IJMB Delegation Visit to UAES
The University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (UAES), Umuagwo, received a delegation from the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. The visit was aimed at reviewing the progress of the IJMB programme in the university and interacting with relevant officials responsible for its implementation.
The meeting began with an introduction by the IJMB Team Leader. Following this, the Director of the Centre for Continuous Education and the IJMB Programme formally introduced the principal officers of the university to the visiting delegation.
While addressing the gathering, the IJMB Team Leader stated that the visit was the second to the university and served as a follow-up to their earlier visit in 2024. The purpose of the visit was to meet with the lecturers handling the pioneer IJMB students in the institution and to evaluate the progress of
the programme.
The delegation expressed interest in understanding how far the lecturers had progressed with the approved curriculum and how effectively the lessons were being delivered. They also sought to know how well the students were responding to the lectures and their level of engagement with the programme.
In addition, the team emphasized the importance of student assessment. According to them, it was necessary to ensure that the pioneer students perform well in the IJMB examinations, as this would contribute positively to the growth and credibility of both the IJMB programme and the University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.
The delegation also discussed important arrangements concerning the conduct of the IJMB examinations. They explained that examination questions are not transmitted until 30 minutes before the commencement of each examination. For this reason, the university would need to provide a suitable examination hall and an office with reliable internet access.
The IJMB officials informed the university that invigilators and supervisors would be sent to oversee the examinations. These invigilators would receive the examination questions electronically, print them immediately, and take them to the examination hall for distribution to the students.
The team further noted that the university should prepare to provide accommodation for the supervisors and invigilators who would be coming for the examination exercise. They also explained that examination materials would be deposited in the bank, while the university would be responsible for providing meals for the invigilators at a fixed rate in order to prevent unnecessary spending.
Responding on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Dr. Emmanuel Uzodinma, welcomed the IJMB delegation to the university. He conveyed the greetings of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christopher Eze, and expressed appreciation for the visit.
Dr. Uzodinma assured the delegation that the university management had taken note of all the requirements and concerns raised. He emphasized that the university would not take any action that could undermine the integrity of the IJMB examinations.
He further stated that the university has adequate internet facilities and suitable examination halls to support the smooth conduct of the examinations. He also requested that the IJMB body communicate the number of supervisors and the feeding allowance ahead of time to enable the university to make the necessary arrangements.
In closing, he thanked the delegation for the visit and assured them that the university would ensure a peaceful and productive stay throughout their engagement.
The Director of the IJMB Programme at the university also addressed the delegation. She informed them that the observations and recommendations made during their previous visit had been implemented. She further assured the team that the programme is being properly managed and that the students are receiving adequate teaching and guidance.
The IJMB delegation was subsequently taken on a tour of the university campus. They expressed satisfaction with the facilities and overall progress observed, describing the visit as successful.
