GOVERNOR UZODIMMA RECEIVE EU - UAES RESEARCH TEAM, COMMENDS VICE CHANCELLOR.

The Imo State Governor and Visitor to the University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, UAES, Umuagwo, Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma today received in audience, the European Union funded research team at the EXCO Chambers, Owerri.

In his brief address, the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof CC Eze introduced the delegation to the governor and thanked him for giving the institution the enabling environment to succeed.

Speaking shortly after the VC, the Team Leader, Mr. Chri Addy-Nayo thanked the governor for granting audience to the team within a short time. He said the research team is working to PROMOTE DIGITAL FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS FOR FARMERS IN REMOTE COMMUNITIES TO ADAPT TO CLIMATE CHANGE. He said the research is run on technical and financial support of the European Union with local and foreign partners such as, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, Al-Hikman University, HUI, Ilorin, Start-up European Regional Network, SERN of Belgium. He said the current phase is the pilot phase and Imo was chosen to be part of it and assured the governor that the project will succeed and attract more support for the institution.

The Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma in his response thanked the team for choosing Imo State and UAES as a partner and beneficiary. He said the University was established for such local and foreign collaboration and wished the team all the best. He urged all relevant agencies of government to ensure collaboration and cooperation with the group in the interest of Imo farmers and people. He commended the University under the leadership of Prof CC Eze for his efforts in moving the institution forward.

The Registrar, Prince Edward Njemanze, Bursar, Mr Robert Anikputa, University Librarian, Prof Chidi Nwosu, Deputy Registrar, Dr Emma Uzodimma, Ag. Director ICT, Dr. Leo Orji, University PRO, Mr Ikechukwu Ogbonna accompanied the VC to the event.
